ART SUB-LEAD - Nintendo Wii (2009)

When Vicarious Visions took on the Wii version of Guitar Hero 5, we added 2 console-exclusive modes: Roadie Battle (a multiplayer head-to-head tug of war between 2 players on the Wii and 2 more on connected Nintendo DS handhelds), and a reimagined version of Mii Freestyle (an open-ended music making activity).

Behind the stage's lit scrim, Roadies maintain their guitarists' gear while sabotaging their opponents'. Stage ends are lit by color to aid team identification.

To throw the sound system out of whack, an opposing Roadie dials frequencies into the red zone on the soundboard's first screen, then drives volume levels red on the second screen.

To play havoc with a guitarist's amplifier, an opposing Roadie first undoes the 8 screws holding on the back plate.

Once the amp's back plate is removed, an opposing Roadie scrambles the internal wiring by mismatching colors.

To sabotage pyrotechnics, the Roadie uses dials to aim at an opponent's guitar, then repeatedly hits a yellow button to charge the firing circuit. Once fully charged, the red button unleashes a torrent of fire on the unwitting guitarist.

To sabotage a guitar, the opposing Roadie breaks into a spare guitar's case by destroying its locks. Once the case is open, the Roadie breaks the existing strings, then restrings the guitar backward.
